Welcome to

Friends of the Bays

Tasmania's pristine waterways are under threat from the foreign owned industrial finfish farming companies. These open water pens release tonnes of antibiotics, chemicals, feed waste and faeces into our waterways.

The Friends of the Bays' goal is to resist the expansion of these salmon pen feedlots into Storm, Frederick Henry and Norfolk Bays, and to push for the withdrawal of any leases and pen feedlots already present.

The broad aims of our organisation are:

  • increase community awareness of the Tasmanian salmon industry's plans, and the foreseeable adverse consequences of their activity.

  • provide factual information based on current independent scientific reports, interviews and documentaries

  • co-ordinate direct action against the expansion of feedlots via social media, events, rallies, petitions and lobbying

  • highlight specific locations and marine species under threat

Your donation is crucial to protecting our waterways. Donations are tax-deductible.

By donating to the Friends Of the Bays you will be taking positive action to save your waterways by helping us to:
